A special Ramadan evening was held in Mukalla under the title "Startups and Their Contribution to Economic and Social Development", bringing together a group of general managers, business leaders, and entrepreneurs. The event aimed to highlight the importance of startups in strengthening the national economy and promoting the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Yemen. The evening was organized under the sponsorship of Bina Business Incubator for Entrepreneurship – Yemen and Business World Company Ltd. for Investment and Studies. The event was opened by Dr. Rabea Ali Al-Awbathani, who delivered a welcoming speech addressing the future of startups in Yemen and their role in driving economic growth. He emphasized the importance of transforming youth potential into successful entrepreneurs by connecting them with experts and investors and fostering a collaborative work environment that builds strong relationships between entrepreneurs and capital owners. Several speakers discussed various topics related to entrepreneurship. Mr. Ahmed Bahaj, General Manager of Bin Dowal Islamic Microfinance Bank, stressed the importance of self-marketing alongside developing professional skills among youth. He also called for holding such events regularly, as they expand young people’s perspectives and enhance their awareness of entrepreneurship. Dr. Ahmed Barian, General Manager of Misk Iron and Steel Factory, focused on the importance of shifting toward production and strengthening the role of the private sector as a key driver of economic progress. He encouraged young people to develop personal and soft skills essential for entrepreneurial success. Mr. Majdi Boaabas, Deputy General Manager of Hadhramout Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized the importance of raising investment awareness among different segments of society. He highlighted the role of such gatherings in introducing youth to investment opportunities and broadening their understanding of entrepreneurship. The evening featured engaging discussions where entrepreneurs and startup founders shared their personal experiences, challenges, and the strategies they used to overcome obstacles. In conclusion, participants agreed on the importance of translating the ideas discussed into actionable initiatives and emphasized the need to hold similar events regularly, as they play a vital role in strengthening the culture of entrepreneurship and fostering an environment of innovation and growth.
